Description: As a counterpoint to Jerome Waldie's speech the previous week, Gianelli provides his perspective on the controverial State Water Project. He looks at the project in terms of necessary water supply and water quality for California now and in the future. Other project goals include flood control and the need to balance resources. Addressing the opponents of the Peripheral Canal, he asserts that it will be engineered to release fresh water directly into Delta streams and channels at eight different points. Many groups support the canal, including the Department of Fish and Game, Department of Parks and Recreation, Bureau of Reclamation, and the Sacramento River and Delta Water Association.
